Bond strength of thermal spray coatings
How do you test the adhesive strength of coatings when industrially optimised thermally sprayed coatings which are normally very strongly bonded to the substrate? Can the existing conventional techniques (e.g. Tensile Adhesion Test, TAT) measure the bond strength? Or, do we need an advanced technique?
In my knowledge, the bonded glue fails and not the coating during TAT. I think NDT technique is a method of choice...
